Nemont Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (Nemont) was organized in 1950 by people in rural areas wanting telephone service. Today, its services have expanded to include cellular, local, long-distance, internet, and cable TV. Nemont has been recognized in the national media for its deployment of broadband technology in rural areas.

Using T/Mon helps Nemont deliver reliable service
Nemont strives to deliver a high-quality and reliable service to their customers. This means that prolonged outages that leave their customers without service are simply unacceptable.

That's why they use their T/Mon and NetGuardians to remotely monitor all of their critical network equipment. "Any equipment that we have that is service affecting, we have alarms on it," said Weed. "Things like transport equipment (like the Calix), DMS 10s, AFCs, etc."

"I feel much better about going back and doing things now. The way equipment is these days you gotta have training. You need the hands-on stuff we did here at training."

Their DPS monitoring gear also helps them stay on top of their other equipment. "We had a relay that went out on one of the generators," said Larson. "Because we had an alarm on it, we were able to notice that because it was monitored."

Factory Training teaches Weed and Larson to better leverage their monitoring gear
Both Weed and Larson came out to the September 2012 Factory Training class hosted at DPS Telecom Headquarters in Fresno, California. Their goals were to come learn about new concepts they could use at home with their network.

New developments for T/Mon Web have Weed and Larson excited about the future
While at Factory Training, Weed and Larson got a sneak peek at some new T/Mon developments. They got a first-hand preview of the new web interface being developed for T/Mon. The interface is going to now allow users to both monitor and edit/configure their T/Mon from the web. "I'm looking forward to Web 3.0," said Weed, "It looks really good. You can go to one spot and do it all."
