Reserve Your Seat TodayPathnet operates as a wholesale telecommunications provider. They offer advanced broadband access and transport solutions to underserved markets nationwide. With a fully convergent network, Pathnet enables traditional carriers and emerging providers - such as Internet service providers (ISPs) and competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) - to achieve profitable, risk-free expansion into new markets without capital investment.
Currently, Pathnet's network spans an impressive 7,700 route miles, with an additional 3,400 miles under construction or tied to swap commitments. This extensive reach provides clients with reliable infrastructure to improve efficiency and profitability in today's competitive telecommunications landscape.
Lee Wells, Senior Timing & Telemetry Engineer, discusses how Pathnet met the challenge of distributing alarms to their various tenants. "The problem was that we had different companies that co-located with us. We would lease space to them out of our facility and part of that package included visibility to the different environmental and housekeeping alarms produced within that site," explains Wells, "There wasn't a solution that could handle that type of function with any efficiency at all."
DPS Telecom delivered a solution for Pathnet by developing the Intelligent Alarm Distribution Shelf (IADS). This success was made possible through the expertise of our sales consultants, the innovation of our design team, and the dedication of our engineering staff.
The IADS empowers Pathnet to easily transmit alarms from their cage to both their Network Operations Center (NOC) and co-located customers. To enhance reliability, DPS Telecom integrated an innovative fuse module that conducts periodic self-diagnostics on the IADS. In the rare event of a shelf failure, a relay immediately triggers an alarm. This allows for prompt awareness of the issue. This solution guarantees Pathnet dependable alarm data and increases confidence in their monitoring system's reliability.
Commenting on DPS' ability to build custom solutions, Wells says, "You are really good at listening to the customer's needs and incorporating them into the product you have been able to do anything we have asked. You built it on the spot and had it ready for us when we asked you to."
In addition to alarm mediation, the IAM had extensive notification capabilities. The T/Mon master offers greater notification customization as well as strong support for modern network protocols.
The T/Mon serves as a multiprotocol, multifunction alarm management platform. The device consolidates alerts from diverse devices into one intuitive interface. This allows operators to monitor legacy and modern equipment simultaneously without the need for multiple systems.
The T/Mon system goes beyond basic notifications. It features advanced tools for forwarding alarms to different systems and supports derived alarms for automating responses based on complex conditions. These capabilities contribute to faster and more accurate reactions to critical events. With the T/Mon, network managers can also benefit from its web and mobile-friendly interfaces, enabling remote access to live data.
Whether you're replacing an outdated IAM or expanding your existing monitoring network, T/Mon offers a scalable, future-proof solution to meet your operational needs.
