Reserve Your Seat TodayHow fast is fiber spreading at your company? Is your monitoring keeping up, or are new sites being turned up without enough visibility? As fiber continues to grow, you need RTUs that can leverage the fiber transport that's available at your remote sites.
The field-proven NetGuardian 832A G5 has a new build option that has dual SFP fiber ports (GigE). These ports allow you to route alarm data over SFP fiber. You can also daisy-chain many NetGuardians together across your network for a highly efficient architecture. This also creates a new monitoring network that is separate from your payload network. This creates valuable redundancy that you can use to remotely access site gear - even when your payload network is down.
The ability to remotely access site gear during a main LAN failure can also provide outstanding revenue protection. One of the main benefits includes lessening downtime by making repairs without driving out to the site. This saves your company money, time, and energy. Your NetGuardians will provide backup 10/100/1000BaseT LAN access to a lot of site devices using their on board switches. Your remote units will still be able to report your alarm notifications to your or your central master station (T/MON), but now via SFP fiber. Get a good night's rest knowing that you still have LAN connectivity via SFP fiber from the NetGuardians you've deployed.
While considering these new fiber-based opportunities, don't forget that this isn't just any RTU. It's a NetGuardian 832A G5. You're investing in a field-proven, full-featured alarm remote unit. Various NetGuardian 832A G5s with different build options have been used in hundreds of networks worldwide.
If the NetGuardian 832A G5 fails to meet your system's needs, DPS can create a custom unit for you through vertical integration. DPS Engineers work together with the Production staff to build the perfect remote units for their clients. Almost all of DPS Telecom's products are manufactured in-house. This gives DPS full control over the production process and allows us to meet or exceed our clients' needs. If there's a unit that needs to be customized to fit your needs, DPS can definitely create it for you. This solution provides the ability to collect up to 8 alarms inside the SCIF, and transmit those alarms via fiber outside the secure environment where the alarms will then be converted to SNMP V3 over 10BaseT LAN.
The fiber interface is critical to this application in that it eliminates a potential antenna source from the SCIF.
Originally, we had discussed SNMPv3 as an option, but because the incremental cost of SNMPv3 was not that high, coupled with the other benefits of that platform, it just made sense to move forward with the SNMPv3 approach.
DPS has a very talented pool of engineers and who routinely work on new products and packaging to create "perfect fit" solutions for our clients. We think you will be able to see from the application that this design is complete, clean and straight forward. There is no "kluge" of existing technology that forces extra user installation work, time or materials.
